Japanese & Domestic Koi

There is no lovelier fish for an outdoor pond than Koi. Each individual is a unique piece of art, adding movement and colour. They are delightful pets, curious by nature, and once used to your presence are easily hand fed.

At Vandermeer Nursery, we pride ourselves on offering quality, healthy Nishikigoi (Japanese Koi) from breeders in the Niigata and Hiroshima areas. Varieties of Koi available will vary from shipment to shipment. We also carry a nice selection of healthy Domestic Koi.

Where do our Koi come from?

Our Japanese Koi stock comes to us from a trusted broker who deals with several known Japanese Koi breeders. The breeders we have chosen produce healthy quality Koi and Butterfly. Their koi farms are self-contained facilities therefore importing diseases like KHV are virtually impossible.

Over the past few years, Vandermeer Nursery has been developing a Koi breeding program. Our Parent Koi consist of High Quality Japanese and Imported Koi. Please join us or ask us about our Annual Koi Harvest in the fall!

Goldfish

These popular pond fish are very hardy, making them an ideal four-season fish. They can survive in a pond that experiences extreme temperatures, warm to cold. Standard Comets will do well in winter months as long as there is adequate oxygen and the pond does not completely freeze over. We sell only quality goldfish such as Comet, Fantail, Sarasa, Shubunkin and Wakin.

Please visit our Ponds Department to find out availability of healthy goldfish that we carry. See below for typical pricing.
