In the winter there are new challenges facing the pond fish keeper. And whether you choose to bring your fish in for a cozy winter retreat, or leave them outside to "hibernate" in their permanent home, Vandermeer Nursery has all the over wintering supplies you need from heaters, de-icers and aquaculture grade air pumps to tubs for bringing those little beauties in where you can enjoy them all season long.

De-icers

The staff in the water garden department are always researching and testing new products to give our customers the newest and best products available. There have been a few problems with certain de-icers in the past.  We have over the last year tested 4 units that showed us promise of providing reliable service at a low energy cost to you.  Each unit has completed at least one full winter season with us operating in our outdoor ponds, and the Pondmaster has actually been with us for two years. All of the units have operated to meet or exceed our expectations, so it would seem that the days of the "not-so-great-deicers" are behind us.   This year we are able to bring to you 3 styles of pond de-icer for your selection.  We were able to offer all of these units for sale in the 2006-2007 winter season in varying limited quantities, and so far, everyone seems happy with their performance, and with the selection.

Air Pumps

Over the past 2 years, Vandermeer Nursery has offered 2 air pumps for sale, and these pumps have met the needs and satisfaction of even the most worrisome of customers.

The Laguna Aeration Kit is an aquarium style air pump that comes complete with airline and airstone and is suitable for ponds up to a volume of approximately 1500 U.S.gallons. 

The PondMaster AP40 Air Pump with diffuser is a pump for larger ponds, up to about 4000+ U.S.gallons.  This pump is sleek, yet heavy-duty in design, and has been extremely popular with out clients, and our staff.

Just a reminder that all air pumps used outdoors need to be protected from the elements such as rain and snow.  Ask staff for suggestions, as we are happy to help.
