Did you know we breed our own domestic koi here on-site? Our annual Koi Harvest marks the grand finale of our baby koi season! It's the day we pull every last juvenile from the mud pond where they've been growing all summer. This free, family-friendly event offers an authentic behind-the-scenes experience.
Take an exclusive peek into one of our owners' personal koi ponds where our mature breeding koi have spent the summer, and chat with our breeding team who will be on-site to answer all your questions. Watch as we net the baby koi and hand-transfer them to bags to relocate them to the ponds in the greenhouse for grading. At the same time, keep an eye out for staff carefully catching frogs and tadpoles to move them to other on-site ponds.
Join us back in the greenhouse to see first-hand how we grade each of our babies, by size, shape, colour, and quality. If you're a passionate koi collector, this is an early-bird opportunity to purchase your favourite fish from our 2025 breeding at 2024 pricing!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I help catch the fish or frogs?
Sorry, no. For the safety of the animals and our staff, all harvesting and relocating is done by our trained team. But you’ll have a great view of the process!
What's the timing of the event?
We start with a visit to the adult koi at 10am, and start netting the babies between 10:15 and 10:30. We'll be back in the greenhouse by roughly 11:30am to start grading. Feel free to hang out for as long as you like or join in whenever you arrive!
What happens if it rains?
The event runs rain or shine, though if you'd like to stay dry, you can just join us for the grading process in the greenhouse. If you'd like to see behind the scenes, be sure to dress appropriately if it looks like rain.
