Vandermeer Nursery began with one small greenhouse built by hand, and it’s been in our family ever since. Today, over 60 years later, the second and third generations work side by side to keep the business growing.

We grow most of what we sell. Everything else is grown by trusted suppliers, using the same practices we do:
- Slow & steady growing techniques to develop thicker stems & tougher foliage
- Developing strong, extensive root systems to support future plant growth
- Regular pinching & pruning during the growing process for thicker, bushier plants
- Perennials & shrubs hardened off to our local outdoor climate to reduce transplant stress

Carefully curated varieties
Not all plants are created equal. We choose varieties that are proven to thrive in our climate, with better disease resistance, stronger blooms, and a longer season of colour. You won't find all the same options at big box stores, and that’s exactly the point.

- Growing in 100% recyclable pots and trays
- Closed-loop water recycling and rainwater collection system
- Use of IPM and beneficial insects to reduce harmful pesticides

Our Services
Repotting
If you purchase a houseplant and decorative pot from us at the same time, we’re happy to repot it for you at no charge.
If you’re bringing in your own plant, pot, or both, we offer repotting for a small fee. Pricing depends on the size and type of plant, as well as any special requests. For more details, call us at 905-427-2525, email us, or stop by our customer service desk.
Please note: Orchids, bonsai, and carnivorous plants are considered a specialty repotting service and do not qualify for free repotting.
Delivery
Our delivery service is available for larger orders, including soil, stone, large plants, and bulk quantities. If you're purchasing plants, we ask that you visit us in person to choose them first — that way, you can be sure they meet your expectations before they arrive at your door.

Planting
We offer additional planting services for customers who book a delivery with us. Planting includes triple mix, transplant fertilizer, and staking if needed. Pricing varies based on pot size.
