African Violet
Streptocarpus ionanthus
African Violets are classic houseplants that produce blooms in shades of pink, mauve, purple, and white. With good light and care, they can flower every 2-6 months, providing you with tons of indoor blooms throughout the year.
African Violets grow best in bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium light, though flowering may be reduced. Warm temperatures and high humidity will encourage strong growth, as long as both are consistent. One of the more difficult aspects of African Violet care is watering, as they are prone to root and crown rot when overwatered. Avoid getting water on the leaves and crown, and ensure the top few inches of soil dry out before watering again.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available year-round, depending on supplier availability.
