Alyssum 'Easter Bonnet Violet'
Lobularia maritima 'Easter Bonnet Violet'
Easter Bonnet Deep Rose features masses of small, violet-pink flowers that create a dense blanket of colour.
Alyssum is a low-growing annual that produces masses of tiny, lightly fragrant flowers. It is most often used as a groundcover, with a spreading habit that makes it ideal for edging garden beds, filling gaps between plants, or spilling over the sides of containers.
Alyssum grows best in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil. It prefers cooler temperatures and may slow down during periods of extreme summer heat, but often rebounds as temperatures cool. Keep the soil evenly moist and trim plants back if they become leggy to encourage fresh growth and more blooms.
Seasonal Availability: Typically May through July
Characteristics
4"-8" tall, 10"-12" wide
Flowering, Bee-Friendly, and Butterfly-Friendly
Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun) and Part shade outdoors (4 hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
