Aster Bigleaf
Eurybia macrophylla
Bigleaf Aster is a herbaceous perennial with large, heart-shaped leaves that form a lush groundcover in shady areas. In late summer to fall, it produces clusters of small white flowers with yellow centres, providing a valuable late-season food source for pollinators. It is also a larval host plant for Silvery Checkerspot and Pearl Crescent butterflies.
Bigleaf Aster grows best in part to full shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil, though it is adaptable to drier conditions and clay soils.
