Aster Frost
Symphyotrichum pilosum
Frost Aster is a perennial native to Ontario that produces masses of small white flowers with yellow centres, which may age to reddish-brown. Blooming late in the season, its flowers provide an important food source for pollinators, including bees and butterflies.
Frost Aster grows best in full sun with average, well-drained soil, though it appreciates some afternoon shade in areas with hot summers. Choose its location carefully, as it can spread readily by both rhizomes and seed.
Seasonal Availability: Typically May to August, depending on suppliers availability.
