Aster Skyblue
Symphyotrichum oolentangiense
Skyblue Aster is an easy-to-grow perennial native to Ontario. In late summer, it produces masses of small, daisy-like blue-violet flowers that provide an important food source for late-season pollinators.
Skyblue Aster grows best in full sun to light shade and tolerates a wide range of soils as long as they are well drained. It is drought tolerant once established and spreads by both rhizomes and seed. Remove spent flowers before they go to seed if you want to limit its spread.
Seasonal Availability: Typically May to August, depending on suppliers availability.
