Barberry 'Ruby Carousel®'
Berberis thunbergii 'Bailone'
Ruby Carousel features dark purplish-red foliage that contrasts with the slightly brighter new growth. The inconspicuous yellow flowers turn into orangey-red berries that hang onto the plant well into winter. As a bonus, this variety turns a brilliant red in the fall, extending the season of interest.
Be careful when handling and pruning; barberry is extremely thorny!
Barberry grow best in full sun with average, well-drained soil. Wet, heavy soils can cause root rot. Barberry can tolerate part shade, but the foliage will lose it's reddish-purple colour.

Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Water every 2-4 days for the first year until established (based on outdoor temperature & plant's water consumption).
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
