Bee Balm Wild Bergamont
Monarda fistulosa
Wild Bergamot Bee Balm is a popular perennial native to Ontario. In summer, it produces unique clusters of tubular lavender flowers that provide a valuable food source for hummingbirds, long-tongued bees, and butterflies.
Bee Balm grows best in full to part sun with average, well-drained soil and is adaptable to a range of soil conditions as long as drainage is good. It is prone to powdery mildew, so providing good air circulation can help reduce infection, though it is still common in humid conditions. Pruning the plant back after flowering can encourage fresh, bushier growth and may promote another flush of blooms.
Seasonal Availability: Typically May to August, depending on suppliers availability.
