Beet 'Red Ace'
Beta vulgaris 'Red Ace'
Red Ace is vigorous, disease resistant variety that produces a round, deep red, tender root with incredibly sweet flesh. They can be sown in succession every 2 weeks in from mid-spring to early summer for an extended harvest. As a bonus, the foliage can be eaten as a leafy green. Red Ace has good heat tolerance and resists bolting, extending your harvest.
Beets can be harvested at any size, but you will get the best flavour if you pull them as soon as they reach full-size, which is around 3".
Beets are a cool season crop, which means they do most of their growing in spring and fall and tend to grow poorly (or not at all) during the summer heat. Beets grow best in full sun with sandy, moist (but not soggy), well-drained soil. Adding organic matter to your soil will help loosen it up if it is heavy and compacted.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available March through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
