Birch 'Dura Heat®'
Betula nigra 'BNMTF'
Dura Heat® is a variety of river birch. River birch are generally one of the more tolerant of heat and drier soils, and Dura Heat® improves on that with even higher tolerance to summer heat, better insect and disease resistance, and a slightly smaller size. Like the species, it also features salmon-tan to reddish-brown exfoliating bark and yellow fall foliage.
Birches grow best in full to part sun with moist, well-drained soil. Consistent moisture is important, especially when young, as they will not tolerate dry soils for long. We recommend applying a layer of mulch around the root system to help conserve soil moisture.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.
