Clematis 'Sapphire Indigo™'

Sapphire Indigo™ is a clematis variety that produces dark purple-blue flowers starting in early summer. It is more mounding than other varieties, and can be ground through shrubs to extend their season of interest or as a groundcover. 

Clematis are one of the few plants that appreciate being planted deeply. The first set of leaf nodes should be below the soil line; this helps protect the crown over the winter. 

Clematis grow best in full to part sun (the best flowering is achieved in full sun) with moist, well-drained, alkaline soil. They dislike heavy clay soils and will not tolerate drought, especially during hot summer days. Clematis don't do well with competition, so make sure the area around their root systems is free of weeds and other plants.
