Cotoneaster 'Cranberry'
Cotoneaster apiculatus
Cranberry cotoneaster is a dense, spreading shrub with small, shiny green leaves, small, pink flowers in late spring and large, bright-red berries that ripen in fall. The berries provide winter interest and are also sometimes eaten by birds and small mammals. Unlike other cotoneasters, Cranberry is deciduous and will not hold its leaves over winter.
Cotoneaster is very easy to grow. They prefer full to part sun and average, well-drained soils. Their sprawling, spreading habit also makes them great for erosion control.
