Crabapple 'Makamik'

Makamik is a variety of crabapple that produces an abundance of dark pink flowers in late spring and small, dark red fruit that holds onto the tree until winter, if not eaten by birds. The glossy green leaves have a purple tone and turn orange in the fall. It has good resistance to scab, fire blight, and rust. 

Crabapples grow best in full sun with moist, fertile, well-drained soil. They're generally very cold-hardy and quite tolerant of different growing conditions. Protect the trunk from rabbits in winter.
