Dogwood 'Chinese'
Cornus kousa var. chinensis
Chinese Dogwood is a small, deciduous flowering tree. In the spring, it produces large, creamy-white, star-like flowers that cover the tree. The green leaves turn shades of reddish-purple and scarlet in the fall. As it matures, the bark starts to peel and develops mottled tan and grey bark.
Flowering Dogwoods grow best in full to part sun with acidic to neutral, fertile, well-drained soil. Consistent moisture is appreciated during dry spells, and drainage is very important to their survival, especially over winter. We recommend planting them in a sheltered area where they are protected from winter winds.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.
