Eggplant 'Black Beauty'
Solanum melogena
Black Beauty is an heirloom variety that produces fruit with dark purple, glossy skin. This is a high-yielding variety, producing up to 12 fruits per plant. This variety loves heat and grows best during the warm summer months.
You can harvest eggplants anytime after they reach half of their mature size. Early harvesting prevents seedy fruits and encourages new growth on your plant. Don't pull the eggplants; cut them using sharp scissors or pruners.
Eggplants grow best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available April through June, depending on suppliers availability.
