Flowering Quince 'Cameo'
Chaenomeles × superba 'Cameo'
Cameo produces small, semi-double, coral-pink flowers in spring, slightly later than other varieties. The flowers turn into small, bitter, apple-like fruits in fall. The fruits are generally inedible off the tree and should be cooked and/or used in preserves before being eaten.
Flowering quince are quite thorny, be careful when planting and pruning!
Flowering quince grow best in full sun, though they can tolerate light shade, flowering and fruiting will be reduced. They prefer a slightly acidic to neutral pH, but can tolerate alkaline soils. They aren't particularly fussy about soil types as long as they are well-drained.
