Goldenrod Stiff-Leaved

Stiff-Leaved Goldenrod is a sturdy perennial native to Ontario with attractive, coarse-textured foliage that turns shades of orange and red in fall. In late summer, broad, flat-topped clusters of tiny golden-yellow flowers appear, producing abundant nectar for bees, butterflies, beetles, and other pollinators. If the spent flowers are left standing, birds will feed on the dried seeds later in the season.

Stiff-Leaved Goldenrod grows best in full sun with average, well-drained soil. It is well adapted to dry, sandy, rocky, clay, and low-nutrient conditions and is drought-tolerant once established. It has a clump-forming habit and is generally less aggressive than many other Goldenrod species, though it may self-seed if spent flowers are left in place.
