Gooseberry 'Pixwell'

Pixwell is a high-yielding, nearly thornless variety that produces sweet salmon-pink berries with tart skin. It is resistant to powdery mildew. 

Gooseberries are self-fertile and do not require another variety to cross-pollinate with. It can take 4-5 years for gooseberries to establish and begin producing full yields. 

Gooseberries grow best in full to part sun in well-drained, fertile soil. They aren't particularly fussy about their growing conditions as long as the soil is well-drained.

Gooseberries and currants are hosts for a disease called white pine blister rust. If you live near or are growing pines, it is not recommended to plant currants or gooseberries unless they are resistant to the disease.
