Hornbeam 'Fastigiata'
Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata'
Fastigiata is a deciduous tree with a columnar form when young, becoming more pyramidal or teardrop-shaped with age. The small, dark green foliage becomes orange-yellow in fall. It's commonly planted in groups to be used as a screen, windbreak, or hedge or can be planted alone as a specimen tree in areas that are lacking space. Hornbeams are a popular choice because they're so adaptable and tolerant of many different conditions.
Hornbeams grow best in full to part sun with average moisture and well-drained soil.
