Hornbeam 'Lucas'
Carpinus betulus 'Lucas'
Lucas is a dense, tightly columnar form of hornbeam that stays narrow into maturity. The thick green leaves turn golden-yellow in the fall before turning brown and may stay on the tree through winter. Hornbeams are a popular choice because they're so adaptable and tolerant of many different conditions.
Hornbeams grow best in full to part sun with average moisture and well-drained soil.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.
