Hyssop Giant Purple
Agastache scrophulariifolia
Purple Giant Hyssop is an easy-to-grow perennial native to Ontario. In mid to late summer, tall spikes of small lavender-purple flowers appear and provide an excellent source of nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Its height makes it especially useful toward the back of a garden, while the dried seed heads provide food for birds later in the season.
Purple Giant Hyssop grows best in full sun to part shade with moist, well-drained soil. It can grow quite tall, but cutting it back by about one-third in July can help keep the plant shorter, fuller, and easier to manage.
Seasonal Availability: Typically May to August, depending on suppliers availability.
