Fireglow is a Japanese Maple with brilliant coloured foliage. Emerging pinkish-red in the spring, the leaves darken to a deep maroon for the summer and turn a bright, fiery red in fall. Fireglow is heat-tolerant, making it less likely to scorch in full sun, and its smaller size makes it a great addition to any garden. 

Japanese maples have the best colour in morning sun and afternoon shade. They can tolerate full sun but may have some leaf scorching in late summer, especially in dry soil. Use mulch around the root system to hold in moisture and keep the roots cool. 

Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.

Care

Part shade outdoors (4 hours of direct sun) and Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)

Water every 1-3 days for first year until established (based on outdoor temperature & plant's water consumption). Be sure to increase watering in heat of summer and, watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.

Japanese Maples are sensitive to winds and are best planted in sheltered locations. If you choose to plant them in an exposed area, they should be wrapped in burlap over the winter to help protect them. Adding mulch around the root system can also help prevent them from drying out over the winter.

The bark is also prone to rabbit damage in the winter and early spring, ensure you protect their trunks during these times.

Pruning should be kept to a minimum, but if needed it can done in late fall to mid winter.
