Japanese Maple 'Hubbs Red Willow'
Acer palmatum 'Hubb's Red Willow'
Hubb's Red Willow, or Willow Leaf, is a variety of Japanese maple with unique foliage. The leaves are bright red, thin and willow-like when they emerge, before turning a deeper maroon and becoming thicker by summer. In the fall, the foliage turns crimson-red before dropping off the tree.
Japanese maples have the best colour in morning sun and afternoon shade. They can tolerate full sun but may have some leaf scorching in late summer, especially in dry soil. Use mulch around the root system to hold in moisture and keep the roots cool.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.
