Japanese Maple Weeping 'Orangeola'
Acer palmatum var. dissectum 'Orangeola'
Orangeola is regarded as one of the best weeping Japanese Maples for its colour and habit. Emerging bright orange, the foliage matures to a deep green by summer. The second flush of foliage in summer emerges orange, giving the whole plant a two-toned effect. Finally, the leaves change in fall to a bright orange-red and hold on the tree for longer than other varieties, extending the season.
The varieties of weeping and laceleaf Japanese Maples that we carry are top-grafted and generally will not grow much taller than the size that they are in our yard. If a taller height is desired, you can stake a young, flexible branch upright onto a pole and let it grow to your desired height, removing the stake once the branch's wood has hardened.
Japanese maples have the best colour in morning sun and afternoon shade. They can tolerate full sun but may have some leaf scorching in late summer, especially in dry soil. Use mulch around the root system to hold in moisture and keep the roots cool.
