Japanese Maple Weeping 'Viridis'
Acer palmatum var. dissectum 'Viridis'
Viridis is an exceptional green-leaved weeping Japanese maple. The foliage emerges a bright, chartreuse green and fades to a rich green in summer. In the fall the leaves turn shades of golden-yellow to orange. It provides a great contrast against red varieties of Japanese maple, or it can be used as a specimen on its own.
The varieties of weeping Japanese Maples that we carry are top-grafted and generally will not grow much taller than the size that they are in our yard. If a taller height is desired, you can stake a young, flexible branch upright onto a pole and let it grow to your desired height, removing the stake once the branch's wood has hardened.
Japanese maples have the best colour in morning sun and afternoon shade. They can tolerate full sun but may have some leaf scorching in late summer, especially in dry soil. Use mulch around the root system to hold in moisture and keep the roots cool.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.
