Kale Red
Brassica oleracea var. acephala 'Redbor'
Redbor Kale produces tall plants with reddish-purple leaves. After a frost, the leaves turn a dark purple-red and become sweeter.
Harvest your Kale at anytime. The whole plant can be picked at once, or you can pick leaves as needed, starting from the bottom of the plant.
Kale grows best in full sun with well-drained, fertile, consistently moist soil.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available March through June, depending on suppliers availability.
Characteristics
Hardiness: Non-Hardy/Annual
Does Not Require Cross-Pollination
Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
