Kalettes
Brassica oleracea var. acephala 'Autumn Star F1'
Kalettes are a hybrid of Brussels sprouts and kale. They mature along the stem like Brussels sprouts, but look like miniature (2") kales. Just like kale and Brussels sprouts, they taste a bit sweeter after a frost.
Harvest your kalettes once they reach 1.5"-2" in diameter. Snap or cut the head just above where the stem meets the main stalk.
Kalettes grow best in full sun with well-drained, fertile, consistently moist soil. Dry soils can cause the quality and flavour to suffer.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available March through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
