Kiwi 'Issai'

Issai is a hardy, compact variety that produces grape-sized, smooth-skinned kiwis in late summer/early fall. Even though they're small, they're sweeter than regular kiwis and have an excellent flavour. Issai is self-fertile and does not need another variety to produce fruit. It is also a smaller, slower-growing variety and less aggressive than others.

Issai kiwi grows best in full to part sun in moist, somewhat acidic, well-drained soil. Vines can take 3-5 years to establish and generally do not produce much, if any, fruit during this time.
