Kohlrabi Purple
Brassica oleracea var. gongylodes 'Purple Vienna'
Vienna Purple is a quick-growing heirloom kohlrabi variety that is resistant to bolting. Purple, round stems surround the flavourful, white flesh.
Harvest your kohlrabi once the bulbous stems are between 2"-3" in diameter, or at 1" for a finer texture. They can tolerate some frost and can be left in the garden well into fall.
Kohlrabi grows best in full sun with fertile, consistently moist, well-drained soil. Consider adding organic matter to your garden to improve drainage and increase the nutrient content of the soil.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available March through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Keep soil moist, but not soggy.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
