

Lizard's Tail
Saururus cernuus
Lizard's Tail is a native, wetland perennial with white spikes of flowers that appear in early summer. The seeds that follow provide a food source for waterfowl.
Lizard's Tail grows best in part sun or light shade, though it can tolerate full sun as long as it has adequate moisture. Spreading via rhizomes, it will form dense colonies in ideal conditions.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on supplier availability.
Characteristics
Size: 1-2 feet tall, 1-2 feet wide.
Submersion Depth: 0-10 cm.
Hardiness: Zone 3
Native, Good for Wet Soil, and Good for Erosion Control
Care
Part shade outdoors (4 hours of direct sun)
All plants classified as water plants prefer wet roots or to be partially submerged, depending on their submersion depth preferences. Plants with a submersion depth starting with 0cm can be planted in wet areas in the garden, in addition to pond edges.
