Marsh Marigold
Caltha palustris
Marsh Marigold is a native perennial that grows in wetlands, marshes and along streams and ponds. Bright yellow flowers appear in mid-late spring. Marsh Marigold is one of the first marginal water plants to bloom in the spring, making it an important source of nectar for pollinators.
In ideal conditions, Marsh Marigold spreads via rhizomes to form colonies, making it an ideal plant for naturalizing. It will also tolerate heavy clay soils as long as they are consistently moist.
