Ninebark 'Summer Wine® Black'
Physocarpus opulifolius 'SMNPMS'
Summer Wine® Black is a disease-resistant variety of Ninebark with dark, almost black foliage that contrasts nicely against the clusters of white flowers in spring. Even when not in bloom, the dark foliage provides interest as it stays mildew-free through the summer.
Ninebarks are low-maintenance and easy to grow for beginner and intermediate gardeners. They grow best in full sun to light shade, with average, well-drained soil. They're drought-tolerant once established, but like consistent moisture when young.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.
