Oak White
Quercus alba
White Oak is a large deciduous tree native to Ontario. It's considered to be one of the most beautiful oak trees, with its massive size and wide-spreading branches. However, they are generally intolerant of urban conditions and road salt and tend to grow better in large, open areas where they have space to grow. They are also highly valuable to wildlife, providing food and shelter for birds and mammals as well as being the larval host for many different species of moths and butterflies.
White Oaks grow best in full sun with rich, moist, acidic to neutral, well-drained soils. They are tolerant of wet and dry conditions but will develop chlorosis in alkaline soils.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available April through August, depending on suppliers availability.
