Olive Plant
Olea europaea
Olives have been a popular houseplant for giving a Mediterranean feel indoors. The small, elongated, dark green leaves are shiny and robust while being delicate and thin enough to give the plant a nice, airy feel.
Olives require lots of strong light as they naturally grow outdoors in full sun. They like gritty, well-draining soil and should be watered only once the top few inches of soil have dried. They don't tolerate drought for long and will quickly drop their leaves in response to stressful conditions.
Seasonal Availability: Small sizes are typically available year-round, while larger tree forms are available spring through summer.
Characteristics
Upright
Can reach over 6' tall.
Care
Bright, indirect to direct sun indoors
Let top 1-2" dry out before watering again. Your pot should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
