Oregon Grape
Mahonia aquifolium
Oregon Grape is a broadleaf evergreen that provides visual interest all year long. In the spring, bright yellow flowers appear that are attractive to pollinators. By late summer, the blue berries that resemble small grapes ripen, providing food for wildlife. In the fall, the dark green, glossy, holly-like leaves turn deep burgundy. The foliage is held all winter long, though some leaves may drop due to winter winds.
Oregon Grape grows best in full to part shade with rich, moist, acidic, well-drained soil. Plant them in a sheltered location to protect them from the wind over winter.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.
