Pepper Sweet Banana
Capsicum annuum 'Sweet Banana'
Sweet Banana produces 6" long, glossy yellow peppers that are slightly banana-shaped and have a mild, sweet taste. They generally register between 0 and 500 on the Scoville Heat Unit. As they mature, they will turn from green to yellow, then orange and finally red.
Sweet Banana Peppers are best harvested when they are between 4" and 8", firm, and are still a pale yellow colour. You can also leave them on the plant until they turn red, which will give them an even sweeter flavour, though they won't be as crisp.
Peppers need full sun and lots of heat to grow. Wait until soil and nighttime temperatures are reliably above 18°C before transplanting outdoors. The soil should be fertile and well-drained. When you water, water deeply and let the top of the soil dry out before watering again.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available April through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
