

Pickerelweed
Pontederia cordata
Pickerelweed is a native, vigorous, marginal aquatic perennial that grows in a clump of shiny, green, heart-shaped foliage. Flowers are spikes or small, purple-blue flowers that appear throughout the summer.
Pickerelweed grows best in full sun and shallow water, up to 30cm deep. It will quickly spread via rhizomes to form colonies when grown in ideal conditions.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on supplier availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
All plants classified as water plants prefer wet roots or to be partially submerged, depending on their submersion depth preferences. Plants with a submersion depth starting with 0cm can be planted in wet areas in the garden, in addition to pond edges.
