Pieris 'Katsura'
Pieris japonica 'Katsura'
Katsura is a popular variety of Pieris. It features shiny, deep evergreen foliage and sprays of light pink, bell-shaped flowers in early spring. The new foliage emerges in shades of copper to deep red.
Pieris will only grow well if you can meet its basic requirements—Acidic, consistently moist, well-drained soil. Dry and/or alkaline soils and windy, exposed areas will all contribute to the decline and death of your Pieris. We recommend planting them in sheltered, partly shaded areas with fertile, loose soil. If the pH of your soil is above 6.5, you will need to add either a soil acidifier or aluminum sulfate to your soil through the growing season.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.
