Privet 'Golden Vicary'
Ligustrum x vicaryi
Golden Vicary Privet is a hardy, fast-growing deciduous shrub. Its dense branching, tolerance of most conditions, and quick growth make it an excellent choice for use as a hedge. Golden California features glossy foliage that emerges golden-yellow before maturing to chartreuse.
We recommend removing any flowers that appear. Though they are attractive, the berries that form afterward are often eaten by birds and spread into forested areas, where they can crowd out native species. Many find their odour unpleasant, and they tend to make the shrub look messy and unattractive.
Privets grow best in full to part sun and aren't fussy about what soil they grow in as long as it's not wet and/or poorly drained. Prune regularly to keep plants dense and prevent flowers from forming.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available June through August, depending on suppliers availability.
