Pumpkin Orange
Cucurbita pepo 'Expert'
Expert produces medium to large (22-30lb) uniform, deep orange, almost perfectly round pumpkins. They are most commonly used for decoration or carving, but the flesh and seeds can be still be eaten.
Harvest your pumpkin once the vines have begun to yellow and die back and the skin has turned a deep, solid orange. If you knock on the pumpkin, it should feel firm and sound hollow. Cut it off the vine carefully, avoid ripping it off the vine or picking it up by the stem.
Pumpkins grow best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Water your pumpkins well when young as they have small root systems. As they mature, you can water slightly less frequently but don't let the soil dry out fully, especially during hot, sunny weather.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available April through June, depending on suppliers availability.

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Let top 1-2" dry out before watering again.
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
