Purple-Leaf Sand Cherry

Purple-Leaf Sand Cherry is a popular, cold-hardy, ornamental shrub with deep purple-red foliage and small pale pink to white flowers in mid-to-late spring.
Like most plants in the Prunus genus, Purple-Leaf Sand Cherry is prone to several pests and diseases. Japanese beetles, aphids, shot hole disease, black knot, and powdery mildew are the most common. Keeping your plant well-watered, pruned, and fertilized reduces the chances of disease.
Purple-Leaf Sand Cherry grows best in full sun with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Add organic matter such as compost or manure to help break up heavy clay and improve fertility.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available June through August, depending on suppliers availability.
