Raspberry 'Raspberry Shortcake®'
Rubus idaeus 'NR7'
Raspberry Shortcake® is a compact, thornless variety that produces firm, sweet fruits that ripen in late July/early August.
Raspberries are self-fertile, and only one variety is needed to produce fruit.
Raspberry Shortcake® is a floricane-fruiting variety, meaning it produces berries on 2-year-old canes. Once the cane has finished fruiting, it should be cut back to the ground to encourage the growth of new canes.
Raspberries grow best in full to part sun with slightly acidic, moist, fertile, well-drained soil.
Despite their compact size suiting container growing, we do not recommend overwintering raspberries in containers as they are unlikely to survive in our zone. They are hardy in our zone when planted directly in the ground.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.

Hardiness: Zone 4

Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun)
Water every 2-4 days for the first year until established (based on outdoor temperature & plant's water consumption).
If it is planted in a pot, it should have a drainage hole to reduce the likelihood of root rot caused by water accumulating in the bottom of the pot.
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
