Redbud 'Flame Thrower®'
Cercis canadensis 'NC2016-2'
Flame Thrower® is a small deciduous tree that provides three seasons of ornamental interest. In the spring, a profusion of small, dark pink flowers covers the branches before the leaves emerge. After blooming, the leaves start to develop and appear in shades of glossy red before turning orange, yellow and finally green. The colourful foliage is present throughout the summer as new leaves continuously emerge. In fall, the leaves turn muted shades of yellow-green before dropping.
Redbuds grow best in full to part sun with fertile, moist, well-drained soils. They dislike heavy, poorly-drained soils and do best with consistent moisture.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through August, depending on suppliers availability.
