Sedge 'Seersucker'
Carex plantaginea
Seersucker Sedge is native, a grass-like perennial with broad green foliage and purple-brown spikes that appear in spring.
Seersucker sedge grows best in neutral to slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Consistent moisture is preferred, but plants have some drought tolerance once they are established. This sedge grows best in light shade, but will tolerate full shade.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.
Characteristics
Size: 8-12 inches tall, 18-24 inches wide.
Submersion Depth: 0-7 cm.
Hardiness: Zone 4
Native, Good for Wet Soil, and Good for Erosion Control
Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun) and Part shade outdoors (4 hours of direct sun)
All plants classified as water plants prefer wet roots or to be partially submerged, depending on their submersion depth preferences. Plants with a submersion depth starting with 0cm can be planted in wet areas in the garden, in addition to pond edges.
