Sedge 'Tussock'
Carex stricta
Tussock Sedge is a native, grass-like perennial with green foliage and brown seed heads in summer.
Tussock Sedge grows best in moist to wet soil and can grow in shallow water. This sedge is good for naturalizing, but can sometimes spread too aggressively in small gardens.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.
Characteristics
Size: 1-3 feet tall, 1-2 feet wide.
Submersion Depth: 0-7 cm.
Hardiness: Zone 3
Native, Good for Wet Soil, and Good for Erosion Control
Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun) and Part shade outdoors (4 hours of direct sun)
All plants classified as water plants prefer wet roots or to be partially submerged, depending on their submersion depth preferences. Plants with a submersion depth starting with 0cm can be planted in wet areas in the garden, in addition to pond edges.
