Spider Plant
Chlorophytum comosum 'Vittatum'
Spider Plants are one of the most common and easily recognized houseplants, known for their easy-going nature and tolerance of a wide range of household conditions. They have narrow, strappy green leaves with a creamy-white stripe through the center. When happy, they produce long stems with small baby plants, or pups, that can be removed and propagated into new plants.
Spider Plants grow best in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower-light conditions. They prefer consistent moisture and should be watered once the top few inches of soil have dried. Spider Plants grow quickly, so if water begins draining through the pot unusually fast or the plant starts struggling, it may be time to repot into a larger container or root prune. They are also sensitive to minerals and salts in tap water, which can cause brown leaf tips. Using deionized, distilled, or rainwater can help prevent this.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available year-round, depending on supplier availability.
