
Spirea Double Play® 'Red'
Spiraea japonica 'SMNSJMFR'
Double Play® Red is a unique variety of spirea that features dark pink, almost red flowers, the deepest of any variety! In the spring, the foliage emerges dark burgundy before maturing to green. In the fall, the leaves turn brick-red before dropping.
Spirea grows best in full to part sun with average, well-drained soil. They can grow in most soil types as long as they are well-drained and are fairly drought-tolerant once established.
Seasonal Availability: Typically available May through September, depending on suppliers availability.

Bee-Friendly, Butterfly-Friendly, Fall Colour, and Drought-Tolerant
Care
Full sun outdoors (6-8+ hours of direct sun) and Part shade outdoors (4 hours of direct sun)
Water every 2-4 days for the first year until established (based on outdoor temperature & plant's water consumption).
Increase watering in the heat of summer and watch for wilting or browning as signs to increase watering frequency.
